CAS(E) this Sketch #296

This week I am joining the CAS(E) this Sketch challenge.  Here is the sketch

and here is my take on it.  I made two cards but they are very similar.  I think I prefer the one with the pink background, but the other one is sparkly.  I do love a bit of sparkle.

I started out by stamping the HAPPYs.  I used my MISTI and yet still they didn't look straight, so I went to my trusty laptop, and printed them instead.  Then I used a couple of birthday die cuts to fill the gap.  The white one on the pink card is from Simon Says Stamp, and the sparkly one is from Papertrey Ink.  Its very difficult to photograph sparkles effectively, but I tried.

My husband is a professional photographer, and he offers to take the photos for me.  At this point it becomes a much more involved process, because he doesn't do 'snaps'.  The lighting has to be right, the set up has to be right, etc, etc.  I say to him, "But Peter, nobody is even looking at my cards, never mind critiquing the standard of photo," but he is a bit of a perfectionist.  So mostly I just take a quick snap as I go, and hope for the best.

I know I am biased , but he is an amazing photographer.  If you have a spare five minutes I have put links to his website in the sidebar.

I had a quick look at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge and saw that it is "Anything Goes", so I am going to join in this challenge too.

Thanks for dropping by,
Karen

  1. Welcome to blogland, Karen. It's always nice to "meet" new card makers! Saw your pink card in the CTS gallery, and thought it was a real standout, so I thought I should drop by and let you know how much I like it! Pink... Perfect color! Great font on 'birthday' too. I like it in white with the sparkle as well, but that pink is a real attention grabber. Have a good one. Bev
